The term ‘Brand’ refers to a business and marketing concept that helps people identify a particular company, product, or individual. Brands are intangible, which means you can’t actually touch or see them. As such, they help shape people’s perceptions of companies, their products, or individuals.

Brands provide enormous value to the company or individual, giving them a competitive edge over others in the same industry. As such, many entities seek legal protection for their brands by obtaining trademarks.

But, what creates a Profitable, Sustainable & Scalable E-commerce Shopify Brand?

As Shopify Experts and eCommerce Business Consultant, we will guide you to opening a Store that can grow with time and turn into a Brand:

→ Choose the Right Product or services to Sell

When you start off with your business, it’s a good idea to check for what the market competition is to what you are selling. The lesser the competition, the higher the chances of your Brand being a success.

→ Check Out the Market Competition

Check what your competitors are selling and how they are selling the product.

Check out their website design and find out how many products they are selling over time. Also, check their Target Audience.

→ Research your Target Audience

Find that customer niche you will be wanting to cater to. Remember, there is a high chance your product will not be bought by everyone.

So, do research on who will be buying your product. You can always create different buyer personas for easier understanding on Hubspot.

Do a small survey of your product by asking people how they feel about your Brand’s products before starting.

→ Choose a Name for your Brand

The name of your site and the legal name of your business don’t need to be identical, but keeping them consistent has its benefits. Make sure whatever you choose fits your niche – you don’t want to pick a brand name at the last minute.

Choosing the right name is almost as similar to choosing the right product to sell. The name must be catchy and pleasing to your Audience’s ears.

→ Chose a Brand Logo and Tagline

A company Logo and Tagline is probably one of the first things that come to mind when you think about building a brand. And for good reason. It’s the face of your company after all, and could potentially be everywhere that your brand exists.

Ideally, you’ll want a Logo and Tagline that’s unique, identifiable, and that’s scalable to work at all sizes. Larger companies do major research before creating their own Logo and Taglines.

You can create your Logo using the Shopify tool here.

→ Get the Necessary Licences

This point is self-explanatory. Get the necessary licenses to create an Online eCommerce store. You don’t want to be doing well and then get shut down due to insufficient documents. Get registered before starting.

→ Branding Guidelines

If you have a Brand color, use them.

• Try and stick to 1-2 colors maximum. Logo and Taglines are required.
• Follow the color theme for your Website, Social media, and Shipping as well.
Keep your fonts similar too and legible for all ages.

Packaging is very important.

→ Shipping Partners

Create a tie-up with a logistics partner who will deliver your product right to the customer’s doorstep. People like hassle-free deliveries.

Try and keep the shipping costs free.

Make the packaging look classy so the buyer finds value in the bought product.

→ Social Marketing and Advertising

Upon the launch of your brand, it’s equally important to get your Brand known among the people instantly. On the launch date, put up free giveaways for a few followers and put up shoutouts that this occasion is being celebrated on Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Pinterest.

If need be, consider advertising on Facebook and Instagram as this provides instant traffic to your website. Faster than SEO. These are a lot cheaper than physical advertisements too.

❝ NOTE: Follow advertising guidelines so you don’t get banned.❞

→ Business Strategies

Successful Brands follow business strategies.

Now that your product and audiences have been chosen. Consider keeping a short-term strategy as well as a long-term strategy. Keep making sure that you touch your milestones so you know your company is doing well.

→ Webpage Speed Optimization and SEO

Webpage speed Optimization and Search Engine Optimization are as important as paid advertising.

Keep the site looking clean and vivid. Almost like a fancy physical store!

Have someone like us optimize your site to keep a fast and high-ranked page. This will drive traffic to your website over time.

Keep your website Mobile prioritized and cross-browser friendly.

→ Payment Gateways

Keep all the popular payment gateways compatible with your store. These are Apps and should not be difficult to incorporate onto your website.

I’m talking about Payment Apps like Google Pay, Apple Pay, Shop Pay, PayPal, etc.

→ Packaging

Brand Packaging, whether it is food packaging, cosmetics packaging, electronics packaging, or packaging of a piece of clothing, it has a purpose why it is there.

Packaging has many different roles. These include providing protection, safety, enhanced usability, attractive looks, optimal design, and specific customer requirements, to name a few.

NOTE: Good packaging helps sell the product easier.

When building a brand, think of your product and consider the only people who will buy your product. Create a fantastic Logo and a catchy Tagline so people remember it over time. Keep marketing so people know what you’re selling and keep giving customers discounts or giveaways so the customer turns into a repeat customer and also brings in their friends.

Start small but think big.

Keep an eye on those milestones and you will scale your company in time.
